As a noted online baby shop supplying drool busting baby bandana bibs in Ireland, Tots Baby Shop stocks Tots Ireland bandana bibs, a successful emerging Irish baby brand. As parents ourselves , we at Tots understand that when your baby continuously drools, this can cause you stress as well as a huge amount of extra work.
What Are Baby Bandana Bibs?
Before we talk about how to protect your baby from drool and drool rash, we need to explain exactly what a bandana drool bib is. Unlike traditional baby bibs with plastic backing, bandana bibs (aka triangle bibs) are adorable baby accessories that protect your baby (and their clothes) from dribble and mositure. Roughly shaped like a triangle, these bibs are made with a layer of cotton over absorbent fleece backing and usually have 2 popper buttons at the back to allow for adjustments. The fleece layer in our bandana bibs is extremely efficient at soaking up drool, meal time dribbles, reflux and sweat meaning you aren’t changing your baby’s tops numerous times every day.
Bandana Bibs & How They Benefit Your Baby
At Tots Baby Shop we stock a gorgeous collection of bandana bibs for babies. With a layer of soft organic cotton over super absorbent fleece, Tots Ireland bandana bibs are dribble proof, hypo allergenic and suitable for your baby’s delicate skin. They have 2 nickle free popper buttons at the back, which are easy for you to open but next to impossible for your baby and they are adjustable, fitting from 3 months up to approximately 3 years. Bandana bibs are the best bibs for 3 month old babies and make perfect weaning bibs.
How Many Baby Bibs Do You Need?
Babies dribble – a lot. You can expect to change your baby’s bib at least 3 times a day – or quite possibly more. So, 3 bibs a day times 7 days = 21 bibs. In my personal experience I went through 3-5 bibs in a normal day and up to 8 bibs a day when my son was teething. This is where fleece lined bandana bibs come into their own. They are very quick to wash and even quicker to dry so they cut down on the number of bibs you need to have in stock.

Dribble Bibs for Teething Babies
Your baby’s first teeth (milk teeth), usually develop while your baby is still in your womb and start to come through at approximately 3-12 months old. This teething process can cause a lot of discomfort or pain for your baby and consequently this can be a very stressful time for both you and your baby.
Teething symptoms include;
- Increased drooling
- Facial rash, also known as dribble rash
- Swollen or inflamed gums
- Chewing everything in sight as biting eases gum pain
- Irritability and restlessness dur to discomfort or pain
- Nappy rash
- Possible poor appetite due to gum pain
Tips to Soothe Teeting Pain
- Teething toys are great at this stage as they are specifically designed for biting and are easy to keep clean
- Cool temperatures ease inflamed gums, you can keep your baby’s teethers in the fridge (not freezer) when not in use
- Cool drinks, cool water is especially beneficially, ensure the water is cool but not cold
- Pain releivers if necessary, I found Teetha Granules to be especially helpful, their active ingredient is chamomile, an anti inflamatory herb.
I recently read a wonderful Q & A article from a paediatric dentist on Tooth Care Tips for Tots, in which she answers the baby teeth questions most asked by parents, we think you will find it helpful.
What To Do When Drool Causes a Rash
In some cases drooling can cause irritation or rash around your baby’s mouth. If this happens, gently wipe away the drool so it doesn’t have time to sit on your baby’s skin and cause even more irritation. Cooling cloths can help but make sure to pat your baby’s skin completely dry. If the drooling is considerable, you can consider applying a little ointment or barrier cream to the affected area at night. If, like me, you prefer to only use natural ingredients on your little one, then you might like MooGoo Nappy Balm, which is also designed for use on irritated facial skin and rashes.
In the end, there isn’t much more you can do to prevent your baby from drooling, it’s a natural and healthy part of your baby’s development.
